group_inouGroup_Inou are producer Imai and emcee CP – Group_Inou are proof that there’s much more to Japanese hip-hop/urban music than the bling-bling and faux-gangsta posing of the wannabe homeboys and girls that dominate the mainstream and Foods is a very promising début. However, they’re at their best when they’re frying your synapses in some Shimokitazawa sweat box so beg, borrow, or steal (or even just buy) tickets for one of their shows.

I talked to Group_Inou before there recent Canadian tour; about the bands expectations for the tour and their upcoming fall album release.

Please introduce yourself. Who are the members of Group_Inou and what instruments and brands of instruments do you play?
Group_Inou is made up of Imai(TRACK) and CP (MC).

Could you tell me a little history of the band, and Group_Inou members’ musical backgrounds?
Both of us can play all kinds of musical instruments. We are multitalented.

CP is a first generation of flower movement.

Remembering back to Group_Inou first time in front of a live audience, what comes to mind?
One of the audience members passed away. We played some gospel music to cover up.

What has been Group_Inou’s biggest triumph as a duo? Greatest challenge?
We have no idea.

For a business, maybe it’s better to set a goal?

It’s a helpful question.

If the whole world were listening, what would you play? And why?Group_Inou
Are you talking about The Beatles?

Group_Inou are touring Canada in May – what is the one thing you hope to see/do there and what do you want to get out of the experience?
We wanna see and learn so many things just like international students.

Japan money!!!

Let’s hear a little about your tastes not related to music ― Could you name some of your favorite books or movies?
Is “AKIRA” famous enough to everybody?

How about movies directed by Takeshi Kitano?

How does music affect you and the world around you?
Power to the People!

What should we be looking forward to in the coming year from Group_Inou?
Around autumn – We are planning to release a new album.

The last words are yours, please say anything you wish and thank you.
